October is the beginning of one of my favorite seasons of the year so what better way to kick off my monthly favorites than now. I’ll keep it short and to the point so let’s jump in.
Therapy.
I actually started therapy again in September but switched around counselors for a couple of weeks until I found one that stuck. I’ve mentioned in blogs before that I did therapy in college and loved it but kind of steered away from it for a while after that. One of my goals right now is to get to a better place mentally, physically, and emotionally and I think therapy is a good tool to have while I’m on this wellness ~*journey*~. [Cue Alexis Rose hand gestures] I found someone I really like and it’s helpful for me to just talk through my feelings and day to day with an outside person. It feels a little like I’m talking to a mirror and realizing how silly some of the things I’m thinking are. It’s hard to explain but if you’ve been in therapy, you get it. I use BetterHelp because #socialanxiety, and it’s easy enough to schedule a weekly chat session from the comfort of my couch. I highly recommend and if you want to get a free week you can sign up here!
Halloween movies.
I love horror, crime, and murder as entertainment. 🔪 I don’t know what that says about me as a person and I should probably check in with said therapist above about it, but I love it. American Horry Story? Love. Anything Michael Myers? Yes, please. Scream, Psycho, Saw, Bates Motel, Stephen King — give me all of it. I even love the cliche movies and remakes from the early 2000s. You know, House of Wax, Hostel, The Hills Have Eyes — the movies you’d go see on a Friday night with your AIM crush and the rest of your school? Those ones. I thrive this time of year because it makes my love for it all a little more acceptable.
Press-on nails.
Hello, Jen? It’s 2005 calling. They want their nails back. 💅 I am LOVING the comeback of press-on nails. Maybe they never really went away I just stopped realizing they were still in stores, but I’m back and here for them. I absolutely cannot stand having naked nails but it gets expensive and time-consuming to keep getting your nails done. And, an 8-year-old could probably paint nails better than I can. So press-ons it is. I buy most of them from Amazon (you can find them here) but sometimes find a good deal at Target or TJ MAXX. The only downside, sometimes you’ll lose a nail and have no idea where it went. 🤷
Adele is back. 🌟
Adele speaks to my soul. Even if what her album is speaking to isn’t where my life is when it’s released, I can relate in some way. Knowing her album is coming and getting a sneak peek earlier this month is giving me life.
Cantalope and prosciutto.
I love prosciutto. On pizza, with cheese, in salads, a sandwich, however way it’s made I love it. At the end of the summer, I started eating it wrapped around cantaloupe and let me tell you — game-changer. Something about the salty-sweet combo that I can’t get enough of. I carried it into October and I’ll probably have to retire it because I don’t think it’s in season anymore? but I 10/10 recommend.
Only Murders In The Building
I cannot say enough about how much I loved this show. I crushed the whole first season in 1 day and then proceeded to start it over right after because I felt like I missed a lot. SO good.
That’s all I’ve got for now but follow me on IG for more favorites throughout the month and check back at the end of November for next month’s!
