10 Things To Do More Of In 2018

Whether you’re the kind of person who loves setting goals and making resolutions for the New Year, or you’re someone who thinks it’s overrated, we can all agree that there’s always room for improvement.  We should all be striving to be better all year long, not just in January.  So, here are 10 things you can focus on throughout the year to be even a little better physically, mentally, and emotionally.

  1. Hydrate  Staying hydrated is something I struggle with.  A lot.  I’ll be really good at drinking water and keeping my skin moisturized for about three days and then everything falls apart.  This year, I’m hoping to do a lot better with it.
  2. Sweat.  This one really doesn’t need an explanation because I think we can all agree that getting exercise not only helps you look good, but it helps you feel good too.  And who doesn’t want that?
  3. Love. Love yourself and one another.  If there’s anything we can all take from 2017 it’s that there’s a lot of hate in the world.  No single person can change that overnight, but a good place to start is by loving yourself a little more.
  4. Appreciate.  I keep seeing that quote, “other people are praying for things you have now”.   And it’s true.  I think I take for granted a lot of the things and people I have in my life and I want to spend more time in 2018 appreciating all those things.
  5. Trust.  I have a tendency to try and control a lot of things that happen to me and around me.  If you’re like this too, it’s as good a time as ever to start trusting that things will work out and there will be a right time for everything.
  6. Work. I have a lot of goals for 2018.  I had a lot of goals for 2017, but didn’t achieve them all.  The only way to get there and reach those goals this time around is to work a little harder and a lot smarter.  Once I figure out how to do that without losing my mind, I’ll let you know.
  7. Travel.  Whether it’s a trip across the country or just a new neighborhood close by, I want to travel more.  I have the desire to see new places and try new things but I never actually do it.
  8. Focus. I’ve always struggled with this.  I start a project then get distracted and start another.  Then I forget about the first one I started and nothing ever gets done.  This year I want to really focus on getting things done.  Pun intended.
  9. Read.  I always forget to read.  I never think about it and it’s the last activity I think of when I’m bored.  But, when I do read I remember how much I enjoy it.  They also say people who read are smarter so keep an eye out for my posts to get much more academic and sophisticated.
  10. Experience. This means living in the moment, trying new things, and being present.  I don’t want to be passive in a conversation anymore or walking down the street on my phone.  I want to keep my eye open to my surroundings and myself open to new opportunities and people in the coming year.
